Horton is a Colorado-born, Virginia-raised, and Georgia-grown, public relations professional currently serving as the communication lead for Georgia Interfaith Power and Light, an environmental justice nonprofit working to equip faith communities across the state of Georgia to care for creation through advocacy, resourcing, and education.

A 2017 alumnus of the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, Jay graduated with a degree in Public Relations and a certificate in New Media Technologies. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, where he completed his thesis on “Digital Activism as Christian Mission.”

He is a sought-after writer, coach, and DEIB (diversity-equity-inclusion-belonging) thought leader working with colleges and organizations across the Southeast, including Emory University, Rome Pride, the Reconciling Ministries Network, the Upper Room, and Berry College. With his father, Dr. Brett Horton, he also recently launched, b3 Remarkable, a leadership development firm where he serves as Chief Marketing Officer.

Jay is happily married to Robert Jeremy Burns, a Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Wellstar Health System, and father of their two-year old pup, Magnolia June. When not working, he enjoys reading, running, traveling, and hanging out with his nieces.
